Gavdos is the southernmost Greek island,
located to the south of its much bigger neighbour, Crete,
of which it is administratively a part, in the peripheral unit of Chania.
It forms a community with surrounding islets and was part of the former Selino Province.

From Radio Gavdos Website:
From 8/11/2004 the island of Gavdos is the southernmost border of the European union and the union point of two cultures (Africa, Europe). The radio station is broadcasting to areas that never heard the radio and now have their own voice. We cover a significant part of Crete, with great thirst for music. We believe that with our effort and your support for the radio station FM 88,8 GAVDOS will become the beacon of the south, the beacon of Greek music throughout the year, while foreign music programs enrich noon & night. The music we choose is strictly chosen so that the program with Greek songs cover all kinds of Greek music and represents Greece deserved to both Greek and thousands of tourists who pass through the area of southern Crete. From the reactions of the listeners draw the conclusion how we achieved our goal and gained the love of the audience which is so necessary to continue the effort with greater joy. The result is pleasant and we, the few inhabitants of Gavdos, we hope to become the beacon of the south, the musical and cultural beacon for ourselves and for those who hear us. Sustain our efforts Become a sponsor, and we will reward you with the best music GOOD HEARING.
