White Mink: Black Cotton is subtitled 'Electro Swing vs. Speakeasy Jazz' and that about sums it up. The double CD presents the very best of this 'new' genre with both a retrospective trawl through rare Cotton Club-style tracks on one CD (remastered from original 78's apparently), pitted alongside modern remixes and 20/30's influenced dance floor fillers on the other.

It was compiled by London DJs Nick Hollywood - for years the power behind famousLondon scene-maker, Club Montepulciano and now head of Brighton label Freshly Squeezed - and El Nino & Lady Kamakaze of the famous Black Cotton and (award winning) Lady Luck clubs. Between them these guys obviously know a thing or two about rocking a vintage flavored dance floor and it really shows. Both CD's are tastefully and seamlessly blended.

Listening to this makes me feel like a drugged five years old blue boy who is dreaming and reminiscencing about his past lives.

Πέθαναν αβοήθητοι

Τρεις άνθρωποι έχασαν τη ζωή τους και μάλιστα στο κέντρο της Αθήνας, εξαιτίας του δριμύτατου ψύχους.

Εργαζόμενοι στις υπηρεσίες καθαριότητας του δήμου τούς βρήκαν νωρίς σήμερα το πρωί νεκρούς στο άλσος του Θησείου.

Σύμφωνα με τις πρώτες ενδείξεις, πρόκειται για άστεγους που ξεψύχησαν τη νύχτα, λόγω του κρύου και του παγετού.

Οι σοροί των τριών συνανθρώπων μας μεταφέρθηκαν σε νοσοκομεία, όπου αναμένεται να εξακριβωθούν τα αίτια θανάτου.

Το βράδυ της Τρίτης ο Δήμος της Αθήνας πρόσφερε σε αστέγους κουβέρτες κουβέρτες, υπνόσακους, σούπα και τσάι σε δεκάδες σημεία της πόλης και ο ξενώνας του φιλοξένησε όσους το ζήτησαν, λόγω της κακοκαιρίας που πλήττει την χώρα τις τελευταίες ημέρες.

Δήλωση για το τραγικό περιστατικό έκανε και ο δήμαρχος Αθηναίων Γ. Καμίνης, τονίζοντας ότι πρόκειται για ζήτημα που μας αφορά όλους.

"Αυτή η τραγική εξέλιξη δείχνει με τον πιο έντονο τρόπο βασικές αδυναμίες της κοινωνίας μας και των οργανωμένων θεσμών μας. Το γεγονός ότι συνάνθρωποί μας έχουν φτάσει σήμερα να ζουν σε συνθήκες εξαθλίωσης, στα πεζοδρόμια, τις πλατείες και τα πάρκα της πόλης μας, είναι θέμα σοβαρότατο το οποίο μας αφορά όλους. Όταν μάλιστα το κρύο, οι κακουχίες ή η εξάρτηση από ουσίες οδηγούν αυτούς τους ανθρώπους σε έναν παγερό, ανώνυμο θάνατο στο δρόμο, τότε το φαινόμενο λαμβάνει διαστάσεις τραγωδίας" δήλωσε ο κ. Καμίνης.
